Among all the clays, the white is the purest and the sweetest. It meets the expectations of all skin types and slips into many formulas of beauty products. Emilie Jolibois, expert in cosmetic ingredients research at Aroma-Zone, reveals her secrets.
WHITE CLAY, WHAT?
White clay is extracted from quarries before being dried and ground to maintain maximum mineral content. Unlike other clays such as green, white clay has much less minerals and iron oxide, which explains its purity and its very clear color. It is therefore ideal for sensitive skin and its properties are such that it is highly appreciated in pharmacy especially for performing gastric dressings.
THE BENEFITS OF THE WHITE CLAY
In general, clays have the capacity to absorb liquids but also to adsorb, in other words to fix the molecules on the surface of the skin through negative ions. Thus, the more the clay is loaded with mineral salts and the more it is able to capture the positive ions to remineralize and detoxify the skin.
Because of its extreme purity, white clay makes it possible to adsorb, to purify and to purify the skin, but also to matify, to soften, to heal, to tighten the pores and to tone the epidermis. In this, it is universal because it adapts to all types of skins and various needs.
WHITE CLAY, SENSITIVE SKIN ALLOY
Natural or coupled with vegetable oils
Mixed with water, white clay turns into a perfect paste to make faces masks. It is important to apply it in a thick layer to prevent the mixture from drying too quickly and cracking (a sign that it must be removed). "To prevent my mask dries too fast, I add a tablespoon of liquid honey to maintain its supple side," Emilie tells us. Dry skin can very well add sweet almond and oily skin to jojoba oil. "
Coupled with plant powders
Emilie also proposes to mix with white clay a little hibiscus powder for an anti-aging effect, rose powder for sensitive skin or oat powder to soothe the itch.
Coupled with essential oils
In beauty, essential oils are to be used with great caution. It is necessary to be all the more vigilant as the clay potentiates the penetration of these oils and can therefore increase the risk of irritation. The mixture is therefore avoided if the sensitive skin is used and it is limited to 2 drops for oily skin and 1 drop for normal skin. "It is preferable to disperse the essential oils in vegetable oils because they are not soluble in aqueous solutions like clay. If one chooses to use an essential oil in his mask with the clay it will always be with a small dose and with a vegetable oil. "
WHITE CLAY FOR TEETH AND HAIR
Combined with baking soda, white clay can be transformed into paste or powdered toothpaste. But Emilie to specify, that unlike a conventional toothpaste, this mixture contains no fluoride and must therefore be used punctually for an optimal brushing of the teeth.
To wash the hair, it is enough to make a paste with the white clay to apply then for 15 minutes on the scalp but not necessarily on all the lengths and to rinse with the clear water as well as the vinegar of cider. This will make them clean, soft and shiny.
Finally, mixed with corn starch to lighten it, the white clay can spray very lightly on the roots and act as a dry shampoo. But attention to the brown, the powder can leave a thin white pellicle behind it.
WHITE CLAY, LIGHT ASSET?
White clay is an excellent support that covers a surface homogeneously. This is why it is used in wrapping around the thighs, mixed with 3 drops of essential oils to make it the perfect combo slimming.
WHITE CLAY TO TREAT MUSCULAR PAIN, RHEUMATISM AND PSORIASIS
Rich in silica, the white clay tones, remineralizes and stimulates the epidermis. Applied in poultice for 10 to 15 minutes, on psoriasis patches or very dry areas of the skin, it eliminates toxins and promotes healing. On the other hand, open wounds are imperatively avoided. It also very beneficial on the muscles a little heated even when you have rheumatism.
